This shot was taken during the BJJ Australian Open in November 2020, between matches. It was a long day, and my first competition after 10 months off due to Covid19 restrictions. I remember exactly how I felt in that moment... my face was scratched, I won my first match by submission, and lost the second by 2 points I stupidly gave away to my opponent. I had few more matches ahead and I was so frustrated and disappointed! But if my years of practice as a Martial Artist thought me ONE thing, it is to NEVER GIVE UP. My heart was on fire, my flight or fight mode was turned on, and my focus was the one of a lioness on a big hunt. I decided I will learn from it, and not let it ruined the rest of my competition. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't easy at all!! But I did it, and I won every single other match on that day, including open weight division! I am grateful for Jiu Jitsu's life lesson that day: The only person standing on my way was myself! And that is not only on the mats but also in life. Oss!
